Why does Adam Sandlers Grown Ups movies get so much hate?

I rewatched Grown Ups 1 and 2 tonight for the first time in 2 years. I forgot how funny they are and was legit laughing almost every scene. The movies have poor reviews but I don't understand why it gets so much hate. It may not be the best comedies ever made but they are very entertaining and funny throughout the whole movie. Here a link to the funniest scene in the series in my opinion if no one has seen the movies.

Have you seen the second one? It is a series of scenes. It is not a movie. It's nothing but noise.

level 2

Yeah my favorite scene is actually from grown ups to. It's the yoga scene that I linked

dude it was so funny though

I find that Adam Sandler's post-90s movies' funniness strongly depends on how stoned I am.

level 2

Am I alone in this universe for genuinely liking 'The Do-Over?' David Spade. Think it was Adam's 2nd movie on the Netflix deal

It does lose a little steam towards the middle and end but I genuinely laughed a good bit in the first half and was vested enough in the two characters to still be interested in the ending

Little bit different, darker at times Adam. And Spade had a role perfectly suited for him

That's My Boy is funnier than any 90s Sandler film. IMO.

The water park scene was filmed in my hometown, got in for free because they needed extras

level 2

Did you meet any of the cast?

the part where they all sexualize rob's 20-something daughters is disgusting seeing as they're their dad's friends. also eric talking about how he had sex with his unconscious wife

level 2

A hot 20-year old doesn't magically become not hot because you know her father.

level 2

the women literally sexualized young men, wheres your energy on that??

level 2

they were jokes you spineless cuck, thats why its rated fucking pg 13

I love these movies. my pops get into them and it became a thing to watch them everytime we'd get together for an extended period. Shaq is def one of my fav characters on and off the court.

It's simple, they are actual trash. Like I'd rather honestly watch a barrel of trash than have to watch those movies again, the fact that they can even be considered actual films is criminal. Adam Sandler should have stopped when he was ahead.

Really low brow and lazy comedy. Serves as an excuse for Sandler and friends to simply hang out. Since it is known that Sandler can do good with dramatic films, these films are see something below his talent in a way.

I somewhat enjoy the original just for nostalgia purposes and some parts do make me laugh - this movie introduced me to the term "wasted" and thatd the scene I think of when I am reminded of the film. Havent seen number 2 though

level 2

If you enjoyed the first Grown Ups then i think you would really like the second one. The second grown ups actually had me laughing more

Pretty bullshit take there with the bias toward the realities comedies deal with. Movies stand on their own, and genres even more so. The reality is Sandler made between 5 and 10 good to great comedies. I mean the funniest movie ever made may just be Say It Isn't So (not Sandler) low brow sure. But show me a movie that never passes up a chance for a laugh so successfully and I'll donate to the charity of your choice.

Really low brow and lazy comedy.

bingo

I thought that the plot line about the men ogling their teen daughters was gross
